Race the Fourteenth Annual Bump N' Grind! BNG is part of the USA Cycling USAC-MTB National Calendar (Category 3) as well as the American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC) and Junior Olympic program. All proceeds from the race are used in support of BUMP's trail building, maintenance and advocacy activities. This year we begin to raise funds to add new single track recently approved by Oak Mountain State Park! This new trail, which includes a costly trek over the existing lake dam and spillway, will add approximately 4 more miles to the Red Trail at Oak Mountain.
On Sunday, racers will compete for more than $12,000 in cash ($5,000 Pro Purse) and thousands in merchandise. Kids still race for free in the Shimano Youth Series. As always, we will have our great feed zone on the mountain. In addition to the fun of racing the nationally known Red trail at Oak Mountain State Park, we will have live music, free racer food, door prizes and camaraderie. As we have done since our first race in 1994, BNG is in honor of National Trails Day. This year's race will once again be a taste of Alabama hospitality with local foods, live bluegrass music from Crossing The Gap and exhibitors under the trees of Oak Mountain. Plan on staying the week and race or attend the Third Annual Xterra Southeast Championships at Oak Mountain on Sunday, June 8th.

About This Race and Course
The cross-country course is mostly fast but tight singletrack. There are 600+ feet of climbing per full lap and a great feed zone half way up. Oak Mountain State Park is a beautiful 10,000-acre facility with many sites for picnicking and a great lake with a beach for swimming and relaxing. The following weekend, the park is hosting the 3rd Annual Nissan Xterra Southeast Championships.
If you raced the Beginner, Sport, Expert, or Pro category last year then you know the courses because they are the same. For those who haven't, the Expert and Sport riders will race the 17-mile "full loop" of the Red trail at Oak Mountain State Park. It is a mixture of a total of five miles of doubletrack and the balance on singletrack trail. The singletrack is mostly tight and buff with some technical sections (e.g., log hops & rocky ledge drops). Beginners will race on a shorter two-lap course starting on a small portion of Peavine Falls Road. A pre-race ride is strongly recommended as the course has varying degrees of technical difficulty. Racers are responsible for knowing the course, for knowing the technical levels of various sections and your ability to ride or possibly dismount to clear a section. The course will be open to the public all day Saturday for practice. Course maps will be available.
